Audoux Minet an Exceptionally Rare Pair of Ships Wheel Rope Wall Lights France 1960's
An exceptional, rare pair of mid-century modern nautical-inspired wall sconces designed by the acclaimed French design duo Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet, dating from the circa 1950s–1960s. Originating from their workshop in Golfe-Juan on the French Riviera, these fixtures beautifully encapsulate the "rustic-luxe" coastal aesthetic that defined French Modernist beach culture during the mid-20th century.
Masterfully handmade, featuring a stylized ship’s helmsman wheel wrapped entirely in tightly braided, authentic marine hemp rope. The core frame boasts detailed rope work accentuating the spokes and a heavily corded hub punctuated by original decorative patinated iron studs. From the base of each wheel, a gracefully curved single arm projects outward to house a solid, vintage brass socket wrapped in matching wound cord.
Each light takes a single B27 (large bayonet) bulb.
Height 33 cm, Width 33 cm, Depth 15 cm
All our items are genuine antique/vintage pieces and therefore can have some signs of age related use or wear, this adds to the character and uniqueness of each of them.
We try to give accurate measurements wherever possible, however where items are unusual shapes pls trust our approx dimensions to be as close as possible
The lights are wired and in full working order, but as with all our lighting we would always suggest they are tested by a qualified electrician
