Pair of Sermel Sergio Bustamante Papier Mache Sun Faces

A pair of Sergio Bustamante sculptures from his "Smiling Sun" series.

Bustamante's work is characterized by its dreamlike, expressive quality, these wall hangings are lacquered papier-maché, common in his "Sol" (Sun) series.

Each signed Sermel which was Bustamantes workshop in Tonala, Mexico, and is a portmanteau of the founders' names: SER gio Bustamante and MEL quiades Preciado. 

Small amount of wear and crazing to each sculpture.

Diameter 29 cm, Depth 5 cm.
