Pair of Maison Bagues Red Wall Sconces Circa 1910

A stunning and exceptionally rare pair of large Maison Baguès 'Rouge' wall sconces, originally created by Maison Baguès circa 1900 - 1910 as candle sconces, these have been historically adapted with lamp holders, each sconce housing two e14 (small screw in lamp holders) we have spoken with Maison Baguès in Paris who have confirmed that these date to the very start of the 20th century.

Each sconce features sectional urns, with floral and leaf decoration throughout, and bead droplets profusely adorn each light. These are very rare examples in red, this was achieved by adding red to the back of the decorative elements during the manufacturing process.

There are areas where this has worn away over time, leaving the most beautiful hues of pinks and muted reds throughout. There have been historical sympathetic alterations and repairs to these lights during the past century and they remain an absolutely breathtaking example of early, and exceptionally rare Maison Baguès at their very pinnacle of design and manufacture.

Height 51 cm, Width 29 cm, Depth 13.5 cm

All our items are genuine antique/vintage pieces and therefore can have some signs of age related use or wear, this adds to the character and uniqueness of each of them.

We try to give accurate measurements wherever possible, however where items are unusual shapes please trust our approx dimensions to be as close as possible.

These lights are wired and in full working order, but as with all our lighting we would always suggest they are tested by a qualified electrician
