Product details

Pair Of French 19th Century Green Cast Iron Garden Urns By Alfred Corneau

An outstanding and highly decorative pair of French 19th-century cast iron garden urns, meticulously crafted by the renowned Alfred Corneau Foundry in Charleville, France. This scarce matching pair embodies the timeless elegance of the Napoleon III era, showcasing a beautifully balanced, heavy-set bulbous profile with distinctive deep gadrooned (semi-lobed) body work.

The flared, decoratively cast rims sit gracefully atop tapered, stepped circular socles. What elevates this particular pair to premier status is its spectacular, completely untouched surface finish. Decades of exposure to the elements have built up a sublime, distressed crust of old verdigris green, white, and earthy ochre paint. This rich, highly tactile patina cannot be replicated by modern distressing methods, offering unparalleled antique charm.

Perfectly suited for grand interior design placement on console tables, in entryways, or as stately architectural focal points on an outdoor terrace or classical garden landscape.

Both Urns bear the essential Alfred Corneau identifying plaque for authentication

Height 40 cm, Width 42 cm
