18th Century Carved and Giltwood Dagger / Sword

A rare and highly decorative 18th century water gilded carved wood dagger, this most likely was held in the hand of the statue of a saint. Featuring an exceptionally well carved spiraling grip, Whilst the entire hilt retains much of its original gold and silver leaf gilding, which has aged to a beautifully soft, warm ochre patina over time.
