Exceptional, Willy Daro White owl table lamp, 1970's

The coral owl lamp is an exceptionally rare and important piece of work made and signed by the pioneering Belgian artist Willy Daro. Dating from the 1970's Comprising a body made from a single piece of natural coral with worked brass head and base, the lamp base is hand inscribed with the artists signature 

The lamp has been rewired

The coral owl featured on the website that was run by the artists son The lamp takes a single standard b27 bulb, there is a rocker switch on the cable and uk plug  Willy Daro ran his studio les nouveaux ateliers Willy Daro in Brussels, Belgium, where he was one of the pioneering artists working with natural materials, particularly coral, minerals and fossils, alongside contemporaries Jacques Duval Brasseur, Maison Honoré and Henri Fernandez.
