Product details

Pair of Late 19th Century Gilded Bronze Female Griffin Empire Wall Lights

An exceptional pair of circa 1900 French Empire style ormolu wall lights, these stunning gilded bronze lights are modelled as the winged female griffin, a classic Empire motif symbolizing power, vigilance, and classical antiquity.

The figures emerge from stylized, acanthus-wrapped backplates, their spread wings detailed with crisp, feathery chasing that catches the light beautifully. From beneath the central figures, two elegant, sweeping scroll arms extend outwards to support finely detailed urn-form nozzles and textured drip pans.

Fully rewired and PAT tested. Each light has two e14 (small screw in) lamp holders.

Height 27 cm, Width 33 cm, Depth 21 cm

All our items are genuine antique/vintage pieces and therefore can have some signs of age related use or wear, this adds to the character and uniqueness of each of them.

We try to give accurate measurements wherever possible, however where items are unusual shapes pls trust our approx dimensions to be as close as possible

The lights are wired and in full working order, but as with all our lighting we would always suggest they are tested by a qualified electrician
